    We have an excellent opportunity to join our team! We are currently seeking a Regional Accounting Manager, with previous Accounting Management experience to join our Fresno Western Regional Office team.



    As a Regional Accounting Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Regional Accounting Manager oversees the supervision of accounting clerks and is responsible for overseeing the management of the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. Functions may vary dependent on areas of operation. This is an exempt salaried position that will report to the Regional VP.



    Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 


    • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
    • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
    • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
    • Ensure that the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Ensure assets for Western Region are always current.
    • Support budget and forecasting activities.
    • Track expenditures versus budget.
    • Send profitability data to Management.
    • Monitor accruals versus actual bills.
    • Collaborate with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
    • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
    • Ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
    • Supervise the accounting staff to ensure all financial reporting and payroll deadlines are met.
    • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
    • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
    • Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
    • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year.
    • Monitor and advise direct reports’ progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
    • Implement and manage special projects and workflow process improvements.
    • General responsibility for supervising the accounting procedures of the Region and the company.
    • Responsible for approving all: invoices, credit memos, month end reports, etc.
    • Approve and release all journal entries.
    • Engage in the more critical and confidential aspects of accounting.
    • Perform complex accounting work on involved projects and problems.
    • Occasional travel to plants and Home Office.
    • Assist Regional VP as needed.


    Responsibility and Authority:

    • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities.
    • Identify and record any issues.
    • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
    • Responsible for the development of policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance.
    • Works with confidential data, which if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect.
    • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
    • Responds to inquiries from Facility Managers and Head Office regarding financial results, special reporting requests etc.
    • Assign and audit the work of the accounting department.
    • Verify the implementation of solutions.





    • Ensure accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records pertaining to payroll and accounting.




    • Following company policies, guidelines and work instructions.
    • Maintaining professional relationships with all USCS staff and visitors.
    • Work with integrity, respect and courtesy.
    • Maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications at all times.
    • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.


    In the Regional Accounting Manager position, the incumbent must be self-motivated and able to work well both independently and in a team-oriented setting.



    Minimum Position Qualifications and Experience:


    • 4 year degree required.
    • At least 3-5 years of accounting supervisory experience preferred.
    • At least 5-7 years of accounting experience required.
    • Must have the ability to provide guidance, direction, and motivate others to obtain improved performance. 
    • Must be well versed in Microsoft Office Professional Suite 2016, with strong Excel skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
    • Professional knowledge and experience in accounting management, including problem solving, conflict resolution skills, consulting skills, operational management skills and analytical skills. 
    • Thorough knowledge of general accounting including thorough skills knowledge plus the application of general accounting theory.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • The Position requires broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and make adjustments as needed.
    • Possess strong work ethic, actively seeking opportunities for improvement and proposing solutions.
    • Professional presence, positive demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
    • High level of integrity, discretion, sound judgment and a team player.
