  • Overview

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

    The HR Administrator will be responsible for providing HR assistance and guidance for their assigned site.  The HR Administrator will be responsible for ensuring that the needs of the sites are being met and work to appropriate his/her time accordingly in coordination with site management.

    .

    Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Accuracy of all paperwork produced.
    • Assist supervision/management as needed.
    •  
    • Answer door, phone calls, and ship office windows.
    • Follow company policies, guidelines and work instructions.
    • Maintain professional relationship with the carriers and customers.
    • Professional and courteous to team members.

     

    Functions may vary dependent on areas of operation. 

     

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Include the following. Other duties as assigned.

    • Assist recruiting new hires for the Wilmington facility as needed.
    • Post jobs internally on TVs and bulletin boards.
    • Recruit, phone screen, interview, extend offers and complete offer process (background checks and drug test) as needed.
    • Participate in onsite job fairs.
    • Prepare orientation packets, complete new hire orientation and new hire paperwork as needed. 
    • Maintain current lists (current list, suggestions running-list, team meeting schedule, etc)
    • Time clock programming and badge creation.
    • Facilitate personnel tests
    • Review payroll if needed
    • Follow up, review, and complete disciplinary actions as needed.
    • Review with HR supervisor to ensure disciplines are correct and complete.
    • Ensure all disciplines infractions are being administered and completed in a timely manner.
    • Establish and maintain HR staff records and reports.
    • Maintain cross training program to insure quality and completion of paperwork
    • Assist associates with benefits enrollment during open enrollment, new hire sign-up, and when associates have life changing events.
    • Conduct 401k and Pension meetings prior to the one (1) year mark with the employees
    • Assist with filing, including maintaining employee’s files
    • Audit files to insure compliance with company policy and complete termination paperwork
    • Update the bulletin boards in all breakrooms
    • Responsible for the completion and execution of anniversary awards and birthday lists
    • Other tasks as assigned

     

    Miscellaneous

    • Maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications at all times.
    • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.

     

    Housekeeping, Security.

    • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
    • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work/lunch room area.

     

    Primary Interactions

    • Interfaces with departmental and cross-functional peers and managers to provide instruction, communicate procedures, and to resolve problems. 

    Reporting 

    • Ensure accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding facility operations.
    • Report all discrepancies, paperwork, reports, and records to the HR Supervisor for final approval

    Qualifications

    MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS

    The requirements that an individual must absolutely possess to perform the essential functions of the  job :

    • Capable of typing.
    • Have good arithmetic skills.
    • Be able to read.
    • Capable of following verbal and written instructions.
    • Available to work various shifts.
    • Capable of standing and walking extended periods of time.
    • Understand and follow company policy as stated in the employee handbook.

    Education:                               High School Degree or GED Required

    Experience:                             Preferred: one (1) year of progressively responsible human resources experience.  Must have the ability to provide guidance, work direction and to motivate others to obtain improved performance.  Effective verbal and written communication skills.  Professional knowledge and experience in human resource management including problem solving, conflict resolution skills, consulting skills, operational management skills, solid financial and analytical skills.
