  • Overview


    The Transportation Clerk is responsible for tracking proof of deliveries, booking delivery appointments, request due date changes, monitoring and tracking detention for inbounds and outbound appointments, run pool tracking reports, confirm correct miles on pool loads.  This position is accountable for clear, timely communication and paperwork.


    Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Accuracy of all paperwork produced.
    • Follow all customer requirements.
    • Assist supervision/management as needed.
    • Follow company policies, guidelines and work instructions.
    • Maintain professional relationship with the carriers and customers.


    Functions may vary dependent on areas of operation. 





    • Maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications at all times.
    • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.
    • Develop PC skills to perform any e-mailing, reports, label preparation and order release.


    Safety, Housekeeping, Security

    • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
    • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work/lunch room area.
    • Required to attend Ammonia Training Class yearly.


    Responsibility and Authority

    • Book delivery appointments
    • Track down (POD’s) proof of deliveries.
    • Complete yard checks and check calls
    • Create orders for internal transportation planning and validation
    • Assist in ensuring carrier complaint with GPS tracking
    • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
    • Verify the implementation of solutions.
    • Respect the law on road traffic public, domestic and international traffic of goods.

    • Capable of typing.
    • Have good arithmetic skills.
    • Be able to read.
    • Capable of following verbal and written instructions.
    • Available to work various shifts.
    • Capable of sitting for extended periods of time.
    • Understand and follow company policy as stated in the employee handbook.
    • Pleasant and Proper phone etiquette

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below are representative of the qualifications required to successfully perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

    Education:                               High School Diploma / GED required

    Experience:                             2+ years of Transportation experience preferred.

    -Good communication skills, written and oral.

    - PC, leadership and planning skills helpful.

    -Experience in AS400, SAP, Word, Excel and Powerpoint a plus.

    -Experience with warehouse paperwork a plus.

    - Ability to thrive in a constantly changing chaotic environment and consistently meet tight timeline.

                                                    -Ability to coordinate with contracted trucking dispatchers and drivers

    • May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.
    • Position may require occasional warehouse work requiring someone to stand, walk, or be mobile for up to an eight hour shift; ascend and descend from a forklift; lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; bend, twist and reach to check freight, stack boxes, and label.
